The New Year is always an exciting time. It is a time to look forward, and briefly to look back; but overall to begin afresh and anew. There is a sense of cleansing and optimism at the beginning of the year that we just do not find at other times. We feel as if we get a do-over, a clean slate and a chance to make a better future.
We were designed to grow, develop, flourish and thrive. Everything about us is made for victory. God created us for relationship and mission. He proclaimed a blessing on us to be fruitful and multiply.
When the world became upside down, God loved us so much that He couldn’t leave us on our own to wither and perish. He sent Jesus to earth on a search and rescue mission. As we receive Jesus into our hearts, we receive eternal life.
Because of Jesus and His finished work on the cross, we can enter into a parent-child relationship with the God of the universe. We can bask in the love of God, and allow that love to transform us from the inside out. Each morning we can wake up to a new New Year’s Day with a forever do-over, a forever clean-slate and a forever chance for a wonderful future.
