We can go through life feeling as if we never measure up. We can compare ourselves to others or society’s standards and always feel condemned. The truth is we are not meant to measure up to anyone else because we are each a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
God created each of us completely unique and in His image. No one has our individual fingerprints or DNA because we are made on purpose for a particular purpose. We are each a walking, breathing beautiful design of the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent infinite King of the universe. Our value is intrinsic.
Even when we lost connection with our maker, God loved us too much to leave us separated. He sent Jesus to earth for us to reconnect us back to Himself. God became flesh, moved into the neighborhood and dwelt among us. Jesus embraced us, healed us and set us free. He gave His life for you and me at the cross on Calvary, so we could be the righteousness of God in Christ and reconnected to the Father forever.
Now we can live and move and have our very being in our Father God. We can know that God doesn’t compare us to anyone else. He sees us as Jesus is, perfect, He delights in our unique traits, gifts and strengths and He loves us radically and unconditionally.
As we begin to see ourselves through His eyes, we will stop comparing ourselves to others, we will become comfortable in our own skin; and we will over time step into God’s grand design where our destinies are interwoven with others and where we bring the Kingdom of Heaven to planet earth.
I john 4:17-18 (MSG) - God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.
