We can find the ship of life to be bumpy and turbulent at times. If we focus on the choppy waves we will find ourselves overcome with motion sickness. However, if we turn our eyes to the horizon and steady our focus there, we can experience a relief from seasickness and our stomachs settle.
We were made for eternity, this world is not our home, so we can often be upset and afraid because of the obstacles and challenges that we face. However we do not need to be afraid because we are not alone.
When the world became upside down and we became separated from God, He loved us so much that He sent love incarnate to earth to rescue, redeem and restore us back to Himself. Jesus came to earth and dwelt amongst us. He embraced us, healed us and set us free. He gave His life for you and me at the cross on Calvary. He is now at the Father’s right hand interceding for us in prayer.
Now when we become earth-sick from obstacles and challenges we face, we can set our eyes on the Altogether Lovely One, Jesus Christ. As we set our eyes and mind on Him, we will find that peace that transcends all understanding, we will sense His presence where there is fullness of joy and we will experience His hope that does not disappoint. We will find that we are charged for the day and filled with fuel and passion for His purposes.
