We can go through seasons where we face a lot of shame and condemnation. We can feel as if we blew it, messed up and failed miserably. The truth is every human being on the planet can relate to those feelings, because every human being on the planet is human.
We weren’t made to be perfect soulless machines. We were made for incremental growth. We were created in the image of God for love, relationship and mission. God created us unique and special with our own DNA, and intricately designed our fingerprints. We are each a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Even when our perfect world became upside down and we lost our way, God didn’t give up on us. His perfect love radically pursued us. God always makes the first move towards us. God didn’t send an angel or an army to rescue us, He sent His beloved child to earth. Love Incarnate moved in the neighborhood and dwelt among us.
Jesus embraced us, healed us, and set us free. He chose to lay down His life for ours so we could receive His identity as beloved child and be adopted into the Kingdom of Heaven. Now we can stop striving to live up to some standard of perfection and receive Jesus’ righteousness by faith.
As we cultivate our relationship with Jesus in prayer, we will begin to grasp God’s radical, relentless, unfailing and overwhelming love. When we feel we fall short, we can stand under the waterfall of God’s love, forgiveness, mercy and grace. As we receive all that was won for us at the cross, we will begin to soar in life.
