In life we can try so hard not to fail. We wrap up our identity in our performance and we work tirelessly to succeed. The truth is our value isn’t dependent on our performance, our value is perfectly intrinsic.
God created us to bear His image. He made us entirely unique and for His purpose and plan. He placed us in our time and location to flourish. Even when we became separated from God, He loved us too much to leave us to whither and perish. God sent His beloved son to earth to save, restore and reconnect us to Him so we could have His life forever.
Jesus laid down His life for us, so we are clearly intrinsically valuable beings as image bearers of the infinite God of the universe. So whether we succeed or fail, we are still perfectly valuable. This gives us a freedom to dream, explore, discover and create without a fear of failure.
Failure doesn’t define us anyway, it simply grows us. It actually helps us to become wiser, richer, fuller people of depth. The more we grasp our intrinsic value, the more we will become people of great faith who are fearless and able to take risks and believe God for the “super abundantly above all we can hope, think, or imagine” life.
