We all are made for love but instead we often settle for infatuation, romance, status, the accumulation of money, people’s approval or even self-destructive things. However, this love that we are made for is something bigger and greater than anything or anyone in creation can fill. This is unconditional love.
Deep in our soul we all crave to be loved for who we are and not for what we do, what we own or what we look like. We desperately want to know that we measure up just the way we are. If we could simply relax in the company of someone who loves us unconditionally, then we could have pure confidence that this person would never leave us, reject us or abandon us; and somehow we know that in this great love affair we could come to purely love ourselves unconditionally as well.
The truth is, we can receive this love through the Creator of the Universe when we simply trust in Jesus Christ. God sent HIs only beloved son to earth to dwell among us, to die as us and to rise to new life for us; so that we could rise with Him and be restored to God completely and experience His great resurrection power and redeeming love.
As we allow His radical, relentless, unconditional love to permeate our beings, we will find that our desires for other things wane. We can settle into complete security that we are accepted, loved, cherished and adored in the Beloved. As we do we will sense a peace that transcends understanding, experience fullness of joy and develop a confident expectation of good. We will begin overtime to flourish in every realm from the inside out and step into the purposes God has created for us since the beginning.
Ephesians 1:3-6 MSG “How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.”
